I asked several people in Sorrento where would be a good place to eat a pizza and watch a World Cup game and they all recommended O' Sole Mio. As my american friends were being seated in the outside patio, I headed to the restroom and when I headed outside I found the menus already on the table and began to browse it. I speak italian fluently and found the menu to be all in english and a very poor translation so I asked the waitress in italian for an italian menu. She was surprised and asked if I was Italian and I answered that I "Si". She brought me the menu with hesitation. As I read my menu one of friends looked at my menu and then at her's several times until she exclaimed, "The prices are different!!". I looked at her menu and indeed the prices on the "English" menu were 2 Euro higher than those on the "Italian" menu. When we had ended our meal and approached the cash register I politely told the owner that the food was excellent but we preferred the "Italian" prices. She pretended not to hear what I said and began to mix the prices and I had to correct her several times. In the end, we hadn't noticed the price difference we would have paid almost 30 Euros more!! My family in Naples told me to report it to the TV show Striscia La Notizia or call the authorities but I didn't have the time since I was on vacation. Just avoid this place because there are much better places to eat and you won't get cheated.

Hi,
I've been to Sorrento many times - and stayed in different hotels. Last time at the Hotel Michelangelo - however it's been impossible for me to get a direct telephone number to that hotel. Always being directed to agencies for reservations etc.
Am hoping for a stay in Sorrento around Sepember and have started planning? Can you help me with the telephone number - please?
Edith
